WINGS – Women in Gospel Sharing
WINGS days are a great opportunity for women to come together for a day of fellowship and teaching, to be challenged by God’s Word, inspired by great speakers and encouraged by one another and to equip women in their walk with the Lord and in sharing their faith in their own setting.
Background to WINGS
WINGS was set up in 1997 by a group of women on the North Coast of NSW under the Evangelism committee of the Presbyterian church of NSW. They saw a need to equip women to be gospel sharers in their local communities through their congregations and in their households.
WINGS North Coast has since held a weekend conference every second year since 1998 in the vicinity of Coffs Harbour. Forster / Taree area formed a committee (Mid North Coast WINGS) and began having a conference every alternate year from 2005.WINGS holds training days in both Wagga and Albury.
The high priority for these events is that the Scriptures are clearly expounded. The main speaker is asked to prepare Biblical expositions. We also seek local women to share their skills and insights in their areas of expertise for either workshops or seminars.
The benefits are:
1. Careful exposition is modelled as the right way of handling the Scriptures.
2. Local women are extended by being asked to lead seminars.
3. Bonds of fellowship are built among women.
4. Smaller churches can have the benefit of skilled speakers who they may not otherwise access.
5. Because evangelism is the focus of the conferences, women are strengthened in fulfilling the Great Commission.
