Women’s Ministry Facilitator: the role explained.

The role of the Women’s Ministry Facilitator is not to do the work of ministry but to promote the training, equipping, deployment and relational support of women in ministry on a complementarian basis.

The Women’s Ministry Committee aims to enhance the work of women employed in ministry across our congregations, but we are also very conscious of the many of women who are not remunerated for their labours but whose service is yet vital. Over time, we aim to achieve the following objectives:

  • Women employed in ministry will be supported pastorally in their work.
  • Women’s ministry leaders in local churches will receive guidance and training and be networked with other women undertaking similar ministries.
  • PWA and other women’s ministry groups within the PCNSW will be linked effectively so that the work of each is enhanced.
  • Women interested in ministry roles will be linked with Christ College through the Dean of Women and be supported as they undertake theological studies; being informed about and connected to the Ministry Training for Women course (Christ College), EQUIP Ministry Women, other conferences and other theological colleges (as appropriate).
  • The PCNSW Assembly will be more regularly and reliably informed of the growth of women’s ministries and actions needed to expand those ministries even further.
  • Members of the Church (both men and women) will be regularly informed about the potential for complementarian ministry and be encouraged to comprehend, and apply this to themselves and to their own responsibilities in ministry.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

1. The cost of this position is estimated to be up to $60,000 per year. Many churches, groups and individuals across the church have already donated money to the funding of a Women’s Ministry Facilitator. This has enabled us to get to this stage of appointment. Unfortunately, we do not yet have the funds for the full amount required to support a three day a week role. The Women’ Ministry Committee would love each church to consider donating to this role to allow for expansion. Please do consider what you may be able to offer either as a church or individual.
